Holiday cottage to rent, Lake Cottage, Silverdale

Lake Cottage sits at the entrance to Gait Barrows Nature Reserve

Nestling at the end of a quiet country lane, 200-year old Lake Cottage is located at the centre of the Arnside & Silverdale AONB next to Gait Barrows Nature Reserve.

As its name suggests, it has a quite unique location bordering Hawes Water, a natural lake lined with reeds and water lillies and a haven for wildlife.

This characterful gamekeeper's cottage offers 2-bedroomed accommodation for 4 with courtyard, sunny garden and boardwalk through the reedbeds to our private jetty and lakeside timber cabin. A further bedroom with small double bed used as occasional extra accomodation for the family may be available by special arrangement. Please enquire.

Located 13 miles south of Kendal, Lake Cottage is 1 mile from Silverdale village with its stores and pubs and 4 miles to the larger villages of Arnside and Carnforth with pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. Ideally situated at the very centre of the AONB, the cottage gives doorstep access to many miles of waymarked paths, woodlands, nature reserves and coastline.

This limestone area on the edge of Morecambe Bay is a paradise for walkers and nature lovers amidst streams, hazel woods and stone-walled meadows. The Arnside and Silverdale AONB encloses large tracts of National Trust land, nature reserves and bird sanctuaries edging the salt marshes and coves of Morecambe Bay. It is a place of beauty and tranquility that has changed little in decades and offers a welcome respite from the busier, more congested tourism of neighbouring Lakeland.

Silverdale is situated on the border of Lancashire and Cumbria with the fells of the southern Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland AONB all within a 30 minute drive.
