Lake Cottage offers cosy, characterful accommodation for 2-4 people in a delightful lakeside setting with private garden, off-lane parking and sunny courtyard.
Built as a gamekeeper's cottage in the early 1800's, it has been refurbished using traditional materials and furnishings, with many original features uncovered during the restoration left exposed.
An open layout to the downstairs kitchen and living rooms creates a spacious area despite its compact proportions. The living room has a large stone inglenook with logburner, exposed beams and period furniture with antique rugs on the waxed floorboards.
The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, fridge-freezer and range cooker in the original inglenook, pine dresser, farmhouse table and 'unfitted' antique units. Please note there is no washing machine or dishwasher. Additional fridge with freezer compartment in boiler room.
Bedrooms offer one small double and one larger twin, both bedrooms enjoy views over the sunny garden and reedbeds to the lake. Newly fitted bathroom with large shower. Central heating. Stairs down from living area to carpeted and furnished garden room opening directly to the sheltered, sunny courtyard . A third bedroom leads off the garden room with small double bed, wardrobe and bedside table. This is used as a supplementary room by the owner's family but may be available by special arangement, increasong accomodation to 5 or 6 persons. Please note the garden room and boiler room on the lower ground floor have a restricted 6ft ceiling height to the open beams.
Pathway through the garden leads under willow arch onto a boardwalk, which meanders through the reedbed to a lakeside timber cabin and sheltered jetty on the lake with panoramic views over lily-fringed Hawes Water to fields and woodland beyond.
